DEATH CAME CALLING

(True Story)

SYNOPSIS

We begin in a rural midwest town, where half the population sits in a maximum security prison. Nicknamed “The White Palace of the West” for its massive outer walls and fortified towers. This medieval fortress combines form and fear. Overseen by a newly appointed Warden with a vision of radical reform, the Anamosa State Penitentiary stands as a dark symbol of the long and complicated relationship between prison and small town.

Confined within its walls sits Ronald Wayne Brewer, a criminal with a violent past turned model inmate. After serving seven years without conflict, his reputation of trust, respect, and good faith grants him unfettered access to the outside world.

Brewer’s intellect and charm make him the most distinguished prisoner ever to step foot in Anamosa. This attention not only piques the interest of believers but skeptics alike. One in particular is immune to his draw, Guard Milton Meeks. Refusing to blur lines between citizen and

criminal, Meeks delves deep into an investigation to expose the Warden’s unusual relationship with Brewer and his controversial reform. As Meeks gets closer to the truth, Brewer attaches himself to an opportunistic prison guard and a well-meaning secretary, whose lives quickly

descend into chaos, leading to a double murder and a nationwide manhunt.

Death Came Calling is a true-crime psychological thriller, exploring an investigative pursuit into the mind of a man who lives in conflicting realities. This is a story of how social

institutions affect and ultimately change the human condition, where betrayal, greed, and murder collide.
